711 Materials has been pouring ready-mix concrete for the ongoing Oakdale Irrigation District North Main Lateral Bridge project. Our 711 Materials crews have partnered with Allied Concrete Pumping to deliver ready-mix concrete solutions! We're proud to be a part of this huge project that's so close to home for so many of us.

The Oakdale Irrigation District (OID) is undertaking significant infrastructure upgrades, including the rehabilitation of the North Main Canal Tunnels 3 and 4 and the expansion of the Paulsell Lateral. Key projects involve structural improvements, canal enlargement, and modernization to enhance water delivery, with construction often scheduled during non-irrigation seasons to minimize service disruption.
Key Projects & Details
North Main Canal Improvements (Tunnels 3 & 4): This project involves rehabilitating Tunnels 3 and 4, including dewatering, enlarging the tunnels, installing shotcrete liners, and placing new concrete inverts.
Paulsell Lateral Expansion Project: This project expands a 10.1-mile canal system to increase capacity for irrigation water delivery, supported by $14.3 million in grant funding.
Claribel Lateral Bridge Replacement: A separate $3.8 million project is replacing a structurally deficient 2-lane bridge on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway over the OID Claribel Lateral.
Project Goals
Water Reliability: Increase canal capacity and reliability of water deliveries.
Sustainability: Support groundwater sustainability and increase storage, reducing reliance on groundwater pumping.
Safety & Maintenance: Replace aging infrastructure, such as the Claribel Lateral bridge.
Recent Activity
Construction on the Paulsell Lateral began in late 2024, focusing on tunnel enlargement.
The North Main Canal improvements were scheduled for bidding in mid-2023.
The Claribel bridge replacement was slated for the 2024/2025 period with funding from the Highway Bridge Program.
