At Reed Family Companies, Caring is more than an act - it’s a way of doing business. It’s woven into every project, every partnership, and every decision we make. We care for our people by fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to grow. We invest in development programs like Managing Oneself: Empowering Others, celebrate milestones through our Recognition Portal, and ensure safety remains at the heart of every job site. When we care for our people, we build a culture that thrives on trust, teamwork, and pride because Better Roads begin with Better Lives inside our organization.

We also care deeply about our customers. Each project is an opportunity to deliver reliability, transparency, and excellence. Whether it’s working side-by-side with agencies to meet tight deadlines or responding quickly to changing field conditions, our teams take pride in doing what we say we will do. Caring for our customers means earning their trust, not just once, but project after project, through consistent quality and genuine partnership.

Caring extends beyond our jobsites and offices into our communities. Our people volunteer, donate, and show up to make a difference because we believe that stronger communities build stronger companies. From walking in the American Heart Association Heart Walks in Sacramento, Lathrop, and Arizona and contributing to Reed Day of Giving, our employees live out our commitment to improving lives where we live and work. This year, team members also helped assemble and deliver backpack racks for students at Lucille Waterford Elementary School in Waterford and built over 50 wood duck nesting boxes for California Waterfowl Preservation.

Our commitment to caring continues throughout the year, across our regions. This summer STEPP Manufacturing participated in the Harris Parade, where we proudly drove a Stepp truck and share information about what we do. In the fall, our STEPP teams represented RFC at the Chicago County Manufacturing Month Job Fair, engaging with more than 250 high-school students from four local schools to discuss career paths in skilled trades and manufacturing.
These hands-on efforts directly support education, wildlife, and our shared environment.
Caring isn’t just one of our S.E.R.V.I.C.E. principles; it’s the foundation that connects us to our purpose and to one another. When we care for people, customers, communities, and the environment, we don’t just build infrastructure; we build connections, opportunity, and lasting impact. That’s what Better Roads-Better Lives is all about.
