Celebrating 40 Years of Service: Sixto Gomez

Updated: Apr 29

After 40 years with George Reed Inc., construction laborer Sixto Gomez is retiring, leaving behind a career built on hard work, loyalty, and teamwork. Sixto began working for GRI in 1985 and called it a place that feels “like a family,” where everyone does their part and takes care of each other.

Throughout the years, Sixto worked alongside many people he’s thankful for, mentioning coworkers and office staff who inspired him and treated him well. He reflected on memorable projects like the Franklin Blvd. job in Sacramento, where crews reconstructed sidewalks and paved the road, and he noted that most of his career was spent paving, with hundreds and even thousands of miles completed over time.

When asked what advice he would give to younger workers entering the field, Sixto kept it simple: work hard, pay attention, and learn from the people around you. Joined by his family, Sixto received a plaque and gifts to recognize this milestone and the impact he made throughout his career at George Reed Inc.

Thank you for your many wonderful years, Sixto, and happy Retirement!
