New Team Member Hard Hat’s
Effective from January 1, 2024

As part of our commitment to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, we have introduced a new safety policy for new employees. This policy requires all new employees to wear a striped hard hat for the first 90 days of their employment. The purpose of this policy is to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries involving new and inexperienced employees, who are more likely to be involved in incidents than seasoned workers.
Policy Details

The new safety policy applies to all new employees who join the company on or after January 1, 2024. The policy does not apply to existing employees who have completed more than 90 days of employment. The policy also does not apply to employees who work in office settings or other areas where hard hats are not required.
New employees must wear a striped hard hat at all times when they are working in areas where hard hats are mandatory, such as construction sites, plant facilities, warehouses, factories, etc.
The striped hard hat must be clearly visible and distinguishable from other hard hats. The stripes must be red and cover top and side brim surfaces of the hard hat.
New employees must obtain their striped hard hat from the safety department on their first day of work. They must return the hard hat to the safety department after they complete 90 days of employment.
New employees must not alter, damage, or remove the stripes from their hard hat. They must also keep their hard hat clean and in good condition.
New employees who fail to comply with the policy may face disciplinary action, such as warnings, suspension, or termination.
Policy Rationale
The new safety policy is based on the following reasons:

According to our safety records, new employees are three times more likely to be involved in accidents and injuries than experienced employees. This is due to factors such as lack of familiarity with the work environment, procedures, and equipment, as well as insufficient training and supervision.
By wearing a striped hard hat, new employees can be easily identified and monitored by their supervisors, mentors, and co-workers. This will help to provide them with more guidance, feedback, and support during their initial period of employment.
The striped hard hat will also serve as a visual reminder for new employees to be more cautious and vigilant when performing their tasks. It will also alert other employees to be more careful and respectful when working around new employees.
The policy will also help to create a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among all employees. It will encourage everyone to follow the safety rules and regulations, and to report any hazards or incidents promptly.
Policy Implementation
The new safety policy will be implemented as follows:
The policy will be communicated to all employees through email, newsletters, posters, and meetings.
The policy will be included in the orientation and training programs for new employees.
The policy will be enforced by the safety department, supervisors, and managers.
The policy will be reviewed and evaluated periodically to assess its effectiveness and impact.
Policy Feedback
We welcome any feedback or suggestions from our employees regarding the new safety policy. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact the safety department at safety@georgereed.com or call (209) 557-3155.
