The Sacramento Metropolitan area is one of the most at risk areas for flooding in the United States due to its location at the confluence and within the floodplain of two major rivers – The Sacramento and the American River. The US Army Corps of Engineers is currently upgrading levees on the American River and George Reed is approved for all materials on the Lower American River Site! This approval was the result of months of hard work and difficult conversations getting engineers, QC, Army Corps and our customer on the same page. Congratulations to Phil Reader and the QC team, Cory Turney and the Operations team, and Kathy Williams our Rip Rap sales specialist for proving our capabilities in making these specialty products. We are proud to be part of this important project to modernize the river’s bank protection and thus reduce erosion and flooding risks for those living in the area.
