At Reed Family Companies, we believe in being a responsible neighbor and doing our part when community concerns are brought forward.

Recently, a safety improvement project was completed on a Reed property near the intersection of Snelling Road and Highway 59 in Merced County. The project gained local attention after Merced County Supervisor Lloyd Pareira shared concerns about visibility and safety in the area. Pareira, who serves on both the Merced County Board of Supervisors and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Governing Board, has long been involved in regional issues that impact local communities.

The property underwent vegetation removal and mitigation work to improve sightlines along the corridor. Throughout the project, Reed Family Companies coordinated with local agencies, including Caltrans, to ensure the work was completed responsibly and within existing easement requirements. Some trees located within the Caltrans easement remain in place because permission for their removal was not granted.

The improvements were well received by members of the community, who expressed appreciation for the effort and the attention given to a long-standing safety concern. The project is a good example of what can happen when local leaders, public agencies, property owners, and contractors work together to address issues that matter to the community.
