A New Group of Interns Joins Reed Family Companies!
We’re excited to welcome our 2026 interns to Reed Family Companies as they begin their journey with us through our annual Intern Roadshow. We have 16 interns this summer stationed thoughout offices and plants in the the Sacramento/ Modesto and surrounding locations across four of our operating companies.
Over the course of two days, June 22nd and 23rd, these interns traveled across Central California visiting 7/11 Materials, VSS International, Inc., George Reed Inc, VSS Macropaver (at Reed International). Along the way, they experienced everything from active construction projects to manufacturing and materials production.
Day One: In the Field and at the Plant
The tour kicked off in West Modesto, CA, where interns visited a George Reed Inc. paving project and saw our crews in action. From there, they headed to the 711 Materials - Stockton Ready Mix Plant to learn how concrete is produced and how our aggregate mining operations support projects across the region.
The day continued in West Sacramento at VSS International, Inc., where interns:
Toured the plant
Explored the QC lab
Learned about emulsions and slurry systems used in pavement preservation
The evening wrapped up with dinner in Modesto, giving interns the chance to connect with team members from across RFC.
Day Two: Manufacturing and Mining
Day two began in Hickman, CA, at the VSS Macropaver facility. Interns toured the shop and learned what goes into building our equipment, from CNC machining to welding. The final stop was George Reed Inc.’s Table Mountain Aggregate Plant in Sonora, CA. After lunch, interns toured the QC lab and gained a deeper understanding of our mining operations, including witnessing a live blast.

This hands-on experience helps our interns understand the full scope of our operations and how our teams work together across every project. We’re proud to support the next generation and look forward to seeing what they accomplish during their time with us!
