Behind the scenes of every reliable connection

Technology works best when it feels invisible. The meeting room starts on time, the network connection is steady, field systems stay online, and employees can get help when they need it. For Ian Larsen, IT Field Technician in the Information Technology department, that quiet reliability is part of the job every day.
Ian supports the company through hands-on field technology work across locations and operational environments. His work connects office teams, field teams, and plant operations by helping maintain the systems employees depend on to communicate, monitor operations, and keep work moving.
Recent internal project references show Ian involved with Teams room support, trailer and silo technology work, hot plant upgrade activity, and broader IT field technician project coordination. These are the kinds of practical technology efforts that are easy to overlook until something stops working, but they are essential to keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.
That's a LOT of cable! Ian (with help from Stephen & Sean) pulled all the old ethernet cable from GRI's new headquarters on Scenic Ave in Modesto. Then replaced it all with Cat 6 ethernet cable.
Ian’s role also brings him into important conversations about security, access, and responsible use of technology. In internal IT discussions, he raised thoughtful questions about software requests, external systems, and the need to understand how company information is handled before new tools are introduced. That careful approach helps reinforce a culture where convenience and innovation are balanced with security and good judgment.

Field technology support is often a mix of troubleshooting, coordination, and persistence. One day may involve helping with cloud access and multifactor authentication; another may involve investigating connectivity issues that affect fiber transmissions or operational sites. Ian’s work reflects the practical, service-focused side of IT: solving problems close to where the work happens.
As Reed Family Companies continues to modernize systems across the enterprise, field technology remains a critical bridge between strategy and operations. Employees like Ian help turn technology investments into working solutions. Thank you, Ian, for the work you do to keep our technology foundation strong and our teams connected!
