June 2026 Safety Idol - Jose Sanchez of VSS!

The Safety Team is proud to recognize Jose Sanchez as RFC's Safety Icon for the month of June, 2026!

A valued member of our slurry operations team, Jose has served as a Superintendent at VSS International's West Sacramento plant since 2019. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our S.E.R.V.I.C.E. principles, especially Caring for our People, Customers, Communities, and Environment.

Jose recently exemplified these values during a routine visit by the Safety Team on June 10, 2026. While observing his crew preparing to clean a slurry box using an open flame, Safety Specialist approached to discuss the importance of having a fire extinguisher readily available. Before the conversation even began, Jose exited his truck carrying a fire extinguisher and explained to his crew why it was essential to have it on hand before starting the task.

This simple but powerful act demonstrated proactive leadership, strong hazard

recognition, and a genuine commitment to protecting his team. Jose didn't wait to be reminded; he anticipated the risk, took immediate action, and reinforced safe work practices with his crew. His actions reflect the type of leadership that helps build and sustain a strong safety culture.
