In November, leaves fall but mustaches and beards grow.

We're all familiar with what happens each year as the weather cools: Pumpkins adorn doorsteps, radio stations start playing holiday tunes and mustaches appear on upper lips. You're probably familiar with this yearly occurrence known as No-Shave November, or Movember. Maybe someone in your household participates or you yourself participate.
Well, it turns out, No-Shave November and Movember aren't just themed months. They're both charitable organizations dedicated to raising awareness about men's health issues and they raise a substantial amount of money each year.

Movember raises money for and supports various men's health initiatives including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and colon cancer research, mental health and suicide prevention, parenting, and general health.

Like Movember, No-Shave November raises awareness and money for men's health initiatives. However, while Movember supports a few different causes, No-Shave November focuses solely on cancer awareness and cancer prevention.

Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.
No matter which organization you choose to support, use November to support men’s health. Caring for and supporting men in need should be a year-round effort. November is the month when we can focus on them and show our support through acts of solidarity.
