George Reed is thrilled to share an exciting milestone in their road improvement project in Davis! Their dedicated construction crew is hard at work, employing an environmentally-friendly solution to transform these roads using rubberized asphalt. ♻️ By re-purposing old tires, we are paving the way for a greener future while delivering high-quality infrastructure for our community. 🌍
This drone video footage was taken on Pole Line Road between the I-80 overpass and Cowell Blvd. in Davis, CA. This is just one location of twenty for this project.
At this location, we cold-planed the road and took the grindings to our Rio Linda plant to recycle back into asphalt or base rock and performed dig outs to repair failing asphalt and subgrade. Following the dig outs, we overlayed the road with 1,300 tons of HMA (hot mix asphalt) and 1,280 tons of RHMA . The RHMA is rubberized HMA with shredded tires blended into the mix. 1,280 tons of RHMA placed on this job would equal about 1,750 tires recycled!
On this same project, there is another location (Mace Blvd.) where we had similar work and placed 1,600 tons of RHMA which is equivalent to 2,190 tires recycled!
