GRI Supports our community: Sullivan Creek Erosion Damage

Updated: May 31, 2023

Due to the late Decemenber and January storms, the Sullivan Creek campus of the Curtis Creek Elementary School District in Sonora, CA suffered extensive erosion damage from the storm surge that went through Sullivan Creek. Local and State agencies would not cover the cost of repairing the erosion damage or mitigating further damage because no structures were destroyed. The erosion was within feet of a shed, knocking down an existing fence line and eroded to the point that it is dangerous for childern to play on the existing playground.

The school district was not in a position to afford mitigation efforts to secure Sullivan Creek, and reached out for donations to our respected customer/partner Sierra Mountain Construction, Inc. They stepped up to perform the repair while George Reed, Inc donationed 300 tons of our Table Mountain 24” Minus Rip Rap for the erosion mitigation. The site is now safe for the children, staff and teachers of Sullivan Creek campus.
