VSSI kicked off a major project for the City of Tucson. The contract which is valued at $6.7 million includes extensive hot mix paving, asphalt rubber chip seal, concrete work, and microsurfacing.

VSSI Superintendants Greg Erks, Rex Minor, and Jeff Johnson worked together to get the project started. The days leading up to beginning the resurfacing work the project withstood some major storms. Greg Erks was out in front of the work assuring all the pre-work was completed. There was a very tight schedule of micro milling and asphalt paving in the areas scheduled for resurfacing. On May, 22nd the resurfacing work started without delay. Jeff Johnson’s

crew was underway chip sealing while Rex Minor’s crew was in full production placing micro surfacing. VSSI and VSSE teams worked very closely to make the kickoff a success.
The week prior to the event and concurrent with the preparatory work. VSSI’s Matt Ferguson, Randy Ghezzi, and
Mike Harrison attended a kickoff event in a

local Tucson park. The park was in the center of a neighborhood that VSSI was tasked with resurfacing. During this event, the mayor boasted the work being done and the miles remaining on the planning desk with many in attendance and the local news crews. We are excited about the work in the City of Tucson, and it has been a great place for VSSI to work.
