Raising Awareness About the Dangers and Prevention of Heart Disease
Every year, more than 350,000 people die of cardiac arrest in the U.S. With your help, we can bring that number to zero. For this year's Heart Month, the American Heart Association
encourages everyone to BE THE BEAT needed to keep someone alive
by learning Hands-Only CPR at heart.org/HandsOnlyCPR.
Women are less likely to receive Hands-Only CPR due to fear of accusations of inappropriate touching, sexual assault, or injuring the person. It is important to know the Good Samaritan Law protects people who perform CPR during cardiac arrest. Research shows Black and Hispanic people are less likely to receive bystander CPR. Nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests happen in homes. That means if you’re called on to do CPR, you will likely be saving the life of
someone you love: a spouse, a parent or a friend. LEARNING CPR WILL HELP SAVE LIVES.
According to the American Heart Association, about 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival. To learn more, click the link below.
