xHope Back to School Bash - Volunteers Needed

Updated: Jul 1

Join RFC in Supporting xHope’s 2026 Back-to-School Bash!!!

Reed Family Companies’ tagline, “caring for our people, customers, community, and environment,” reflects our commitment to making a positive impact. Giving back to the communities we serve is very important to us. This summer, we’re proud to support xHope as they prepare to help approximately 350 local K-12 students experiencing foster care, kinship placement, homelessness, financial hardship, and other vulnerable circumstances start the school year with confidence.

The Back-to-School Bash provides much more than school supplies. Families enjoy a fun, welcoming event where children receive free haircuts, participate in activities, and shop one-on-one in the Threads of Hope Boutique Closet for new clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and other school essentials—all at no cost. (Some of the shoes offered are from our employees who donated shoes in Operation Shoebox in June 2026.) Note: xHope serves foster families and children from the Sacramento and surrounding areas.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If you’d like to make a difference, consider volunteering at one of their upcoming events:

● Saturday, July 11: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

● Thursday, July 16: 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

● Monday, July 27: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

● Friday, August 7: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Here's a link to sign up for a shift (xHope). There is also more info there: https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/volunteer/#/join-party?k=tu5kfls20avtm3.

Get Paid to Volunteer:

All Reed Family Companies' full-time employees can use their Reed Community Service hours, in lieu of their regularly scheduled work hours. Each employee must request and get approval from their manager via the Reed Giving Portal - Reed Community Service Day Request Form. (More information about the Reed Community Service Day is provided on the form as well as the Human Resouces SharePoint Hub.)

Each full-time employee can volunteer 8 hours / year and each employee will be paid by the Reed Foundation to volunteer! (Note: There is no limit to how many hours current BUILD members can volunteer for Reed Community Service.)

Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or an entire event, your time will have a lasting impact on local children and families. Volunteers must be 17 years of age or older.

Can’t volunteer? You can still help!

xHope continues to welcome sponsorships and donations to keep the Threads of Hope Boutique Closet stocked throughout the year with clothing, shoes, socks, undergarments, hygiene products, and school supplies.

Thank you for helping Reed Family Companies continue its commitment to strengthening the communities where we live and work. Together, we can help every child walk into the classroom feeling confident, prepared, and ready to succeed!
