On Friday, April 17, 2026, an incredible team of volunteers from Reed Family Companies joined us at the California Waterfowl Association (CWA) for a day of hands-on conservation work.
While our volunteer events with CWA typically focus on building nesting boxes for our local wood duck population. This year brought a new—and equally important—task: preparing the nesting box kits used in youth education programs.
Together, we assembled and organized more than 100 kits that CWA brought to Yolo Duck Days the following weekend. There, children and families learned about wood ducks and—thanks to these kits—experienced the satisfaction of building a nesting box themselves.
We’re grateful for the group’s hard work, enthusiasm, and teamwork, which helped create meaningful learning opportunities for youth while supporting future generations of wood ducks and the wetland habitats they depend on.
Your passion and dedication truly made this event a success. Here's to building a better future for wildlife — one nesting box at a time! 🦆💚

It's that time again! The popular Duck Box BUILD Day is back and we're looking for a group of individuals who are ready to cut some wood, assemble some boxes and give back to nature! Join us in volunteering with the California Waterfowl Association to build wood duck nesting boxes. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact on local wildlife while enjoying the great outdoors with your colleagues and fellow conservation enthusiasts.
Why Wood Duck Boxes Matter

Wood ducks rely on tree cavities for nesting, but habitat loss has made it harder for them to find safe places to lay their eggs. By building and installing nesting boxes, we provide these beautiful birds with the shelter they need to thrive. Your efforts will directly contribute to the conservation of this species and help maintain a healthy ecosystem.
