The acquisition of Kasi Infrared adds patching equipment to our product line anchored by the Macropaver. Reed international dba VSS Macropaver sells slurry and micro surfacing equipment along with emulsion plant and asphalt modifying equipment worldwide. Kasi Infrared, the newest dba of Reed International, sells Infrared Patching equipment along with hot boxes for storing paving materials.

On May 2nd, 2022 a team of 5 left San Francisco flying to Boston and driving up to Claremont, New Hampshire to move the Kasi Infrared assets purchased from R. Filion, Inc to California.

The move included backing up computer files, packing up drawings and parts inventory along with learning about building the equipment. While we were packing for the move, our team in Hickman was working on the Master Parts List for our manufacturing system, filing our new dba in Stanislaus County and working with the accounting data to prepare to start manufacturing this new equipment line.

Juan Carlos Pena, Product Engineer, working with Jim Corbett from Kasi who joined our Engineering Team.

We promoted Juan Carlos Pena from Project Engineer to Kasi Product Engineer. Carlos is now responsible for the engineering on this product line along with the future innovation and product development. We have many ideas to expand this line.

Carlos is a 2021 graduate of Managing Oneself and Empowering Others. He joined our Engineering team 3 years ago with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Merced.

Our sales team joined the group in Claremont on Thursday. Mario Perezcassar and Daniel Martin were exhibiting at the Northeast Pavement Preservation Partnership (NEPPP) meeting in Portsmouth, New Hampshire earlier in the week. We spent Friday learning about infrared patching from Jarad Filion of North American Infrared who will become our New England dealer and East Coast Repair Center.

Following our trip we have relaunched www.kasiinfrared.com with help from Dajha Singal and we are building our first two Kasi Proheat Minuteman patching trailers. We closed our first sale last week for a Kasi Patriot patching truck. We are busy buying parts for these builds and for parts sales which presents challenges with today’s “Supply Chain Issues”.

This acquisition showcases the strength of our company teams working together. We learned about this opportunity from a random call to Casey Razma, Basic Resources CFO. Casey Razma and Doug Hogue, RII VP, made two trips to research Kasi and to negotiate the purchase agreement. IT at Basic Resources created an Azure environment allowing for the Kasi engineer to work remote in our systems and traveled with our team to backup computers and move information and relaunched the website along with moving phones and email. Accounting created the new accounts necessary to run this division of RII. Together we reach our goals!
