This April, as we celebrate Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability, we want to highlight a team that demonstrates exceptional pride, efficiency, and responsibility every day: our Bakersfield emulsion terminal, led by Plant Manager, Toufik Husein.

Although the Bakersfield site is geographically distant from our other locations, the team’s impact is unmistakable. This small group consistently sets an example in sustainability, cost control, and hands‑on operational excellence. Under Toufik’s guidance, the plant is maintained in an exceptionally clean and well‑organized condition. By keeping inventory levels to a minimum and reducing heating whenever it is not needed, the team demonstrates disciplined, energy‑efficient practices that support both environmental and cost‑saving goals.

The Bakersfield crew also embraces a culture of reuse and repair. They repurpose parts and equipment whenever possible and take pride in handling their own maintenance, including servicing the heater and air compressor in‑house. Their resourcefulness not only extends the life of critical equipment but also reduces waste and reliance on third‑party service providers.
