2022 Milestones on a Successful Journey

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

We have much to be proud of as we continue our journey to becoming the premier integrated road construction, materials, and equipment company. Our mission is to grow the business for long-term viability and to provide opportunities for our family of employees. In 2022, each of our businesses were impacted differently by both favorable and challenging circumstances and this diversification positioned us to meet our overall growth targets as a whole. While most of our growth was organically achieved through new products, services, and markets, we also expanded our aggregate reserves and equipment manufacturing product line through acquisitions. You Made the Difference in how we weathered inflation, supply chain, and other challenges. We thank you for all the ways in which you improved efficiency, increased reliability, and reduced costs. We are stronger when we work together as the Reed Family of Companies.

Our commitment to safety and environmental stewardship is integral to how we operate. This year the Reed Family Companies joined the American Heart Association’s Hard Hats with Heart initiative to support our vision of a caring safety culture that includes mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Our implementation of the Samsara dash cameras to promote safe driving is already making a positive impact. For 2023, our company wide safety team is developing new safety training recognizing the need for each of us to understand our personal role in continuing to strengthen our caring safety culture. There are many ways in which we are building a greener future for our company. We are the first company in the Central Valley to implement Carbon Cure to reduce our carbon footprint by mineralizing waste CO2 into concrete. We introduced new environmentally friendly dust control products and are working with CalTrans to increase the amount of recycled asphalt in pavements. The Environmental and Land Use department teamed up with local Boy Scouts to plant acorns for our Oak Woodlands restoration program and helped them earn Environmental Merit Badges while participating in The Great Sierra River Cleanup.

All Reed companies endeavor to involve and support our family of employees and to give back to the communities in which we live. In 2022, the BUILD Team was formed to better appreciate you and to provide opportunities that ignite a desire to support worthy causes in the areas where we live and work. BUILD introduced our first company-wide newsletter which highlighted accomplishments by individuals and teams. BUILD developed a company-wide program to celebrate each anniversary of company service via Hard Hat Stickers. The SERVICE Appreciation Program was introduced at end of season or holiday celebrations and will continue to be rolled out during 2023 orientations. BUILD also introduced our first annual Reed Day of Giving which significantly increased use of our matching donations program. BUILD promoted and provided several opportunities to volunteer through the Reed Community Service Day program. Some examples include Go Red for Women, the Beach Clean Up, Modesto 4th of July Parade, walkways for Stockton Gospel Mission women’s Recuperative Care Center, Veteran’s Wood Duck Nesting Box building the Heart & Stroke Walks in Modesto and Sacramento, xHope’s “Caring for Kids” program to support the needs of foster, adoptive, and at-risk children, and Holiday Food and Toy Drives.

Looking back at 2022, there are many successes from which we expect to build upon in the coming year. Thank you for continued dedication as we look forward to opportunities and challenges in 2023.
